Hemorrhoid Doctor
When the patient arrives at the clinics complaining of acute pain in the rectum area and reports passing of stools with blood the doctor will enquire whether the patient has constipation as well. The patient also reports of itching and constant irritation in the rectum area and complains of acute discomfort. The doctor upon examining the patient will find that the patient has swollen veins all around his rectum and that is the cause for such extreme pain. This condition is called hemorrhoid and this will be made worse by the patient straining too much while passing stools. Some times fissures develop and blood is also passed with the stools.
The doctor will satisfy himself that this is indeed a case of hemorrhoid and proceed to ascertain the extent of damage done to the veins around the rectum. Then the doctor will administer an enema and clear the patient’s colon for further examination with a colonoscopy and ascertain whether the type of hemorrhoid is internal or external.
The doctor’s examination is necessary as the patient may be reporting of blood due to some other causes also. The blood may be due to gastro intestinal lesions or the patient might be having colon cancer. The hemorrhoid on the other hand is a much simpler condition and there is no cause for alarm. The doctor will decide the type of treatment after examining the patient. The doctor will be much relieved that this is not colon cancer the second most common cancer in America.
No doctor will instantly recommend a surgical procedure. The doctor will accord top priority to getting rid of the constipation problem. First of all he will suggest mild laxatives that help the patient move his bowels without much difficulty. Then he would advise the patient not to strain himself too much when passing stools. When the constipation problem goes away, the patient will find that the swelling in the veins is also gradually subsiding. The doctor will prescribe an aloe Vera gel to be applied to the area around the rectum which the patient will find soothing. He would also prescribe good drugs to ease up the blood pressure in his veins around the rectum.
Having brought the patient to a state of normalcy the doctor will ask the patient to do exercises that last for an hour. The exercises must be brisk and should aim at controlling the weight of the patient. Exercises have a great effect of strengthening up the tissues around the rectum and making the patient pass stools without any great difficulty.
The doctor would ask the patient to include adequate dietary fiber in his diet and also drink adequate amount of water this will help in increasing the bulk of the stools and help in the easy passage of stools. The patient will not have to strain and the hemorrhoid problem will soon be over. Dietary fiber is found abundantly in raw fruits and leafy green vegetables. The patient must stop eating junk food immediately.
